Vitevis invests in precision agriculture: a new weather network to support its Members

Innovation, collaboration, and sustainability are the key words defining the new precision agriculture project launched by Vitevis, which involves the installation of 19 Sencrop weather stations across the vineyards of several Members.

This strategic investment marks a decisive step toward a modern and data-driven viticulture—one that monitors, forecasts, and intervenes with precision and timeliness. Installed in 2024 and fully operational by spring 2025, the stations continuously record temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind, transmitting real-time data to the Sencrop application, accessible via smartphone or computer.

Each Member can therefore monitor the climatic conditions of their vineyard in real time, receive customized alerts in case of fungal disease risk, water stress, or irrigation needs, and plan vineyard operations more efficiently. The collected data are integrated into the Agrigis platform, which processes soil and environmental information to develop personalized fertilization plans and regional phytosanitary bulletins, providing a comprehensive and scientific overview of vineyard conditions.

Sencrop for Agronomy Professionals, Vitevis’ technology partner, is a French company and European leader in connected agriculture, with over 30,000 weather stations installed across the continent. It provides intuitive digital tools that enable farmers to monitor microclimates and make data-based agronomic decisions.

The strength of the Sencrop network lies in its precision and collaboration: instead of relying on generic weather data, it gathers localized measurements directly from the Members’ vineyards. Thanks to this cooperative network, each grower can access not only their own data but also that of nearby stations, creating a shared and detailed meteorological map of the region. The network currently includes 95 weather stations in total (76 interconnected and 19 owned by Vitevis), offering highly accurate territorial coverage.

Beyond daily monitoring, the system also provides analytical tools to evaluate past harvests, plan future activities, and optimize resources—from variety selection to treatment scheduling and fieldwork organization.

Sencrop’s technology is designed to be intuitive and accessible, making agricultural digitalization easy for all, simplifying work, and increasing awareness in the vineyard.

To support the initiative, Vitevis has organized training sessions dedicated to its Members, helping them learn how to use the application and interpret the data. This educational journey fosters curiosity, knowledge, and sustainable decision-making, while reducing both environmental impact and operational costs.

A concrete step forward toward a viticulture that harmonizes tradition, innovation, commitment, and sustainability—the core values that have always guided the vision of Vitevis.
