Sustainability. Excellence means responsibility.

For us, sustainability is a journey, an ongoing process and not an endpoint.

download sustainability report 23/24

With more than 1000 winegrower members working across 2,700 hectares of vineyards stretching between Verona and Vicenza, we share good practices and guidelines to ensure that we combine both care for the environment and the production of quality wines.

Our agricultural practices aim to protect and enrich biodiversity, safeguard water sources, use energy efficiently and reduce the impact on the environment. Every cluster of grapes we harvest shows our respect for the soil we cultivate and the air we breathe.

Every step of our production process, from the way we care for the vines, to the transformation of the grapes, to the sale of the finished product, is characterised by our commitment to ensure that every glass we pour is not only a unique experience for the senses but also a conscious choice for the well-being of the environment.

2

SQNPI
Integrate to reinforce

Start date of our initiative to obtain SQNPI certification at our member estates. In 2023, 228 members with holdings of 1,427 hectares were involved in the project. More than 50% of the vineyard area has been SQNPI certified.
Vitevis is the lead organization of the supply chain.

PROJECT “PINOT GRIGIO” – Precision farming 4.0

Thanks to precision farming, we have been able to limit biennial bearing, increase and improve yields and still look after the environment.

4

ENERGETIC DIAGNOSIS

We launched a process of energy consumption rationalization and measurement of the company’s environmental impact with the ‘Diagnosi Energica’ tool (pursuant to the Legislative Decree 102/2014 and subsequent amendments and additions), which has been implemented across all production sites and has resulted in appropriate investments.

3E EQUALITAS
(Environmental, Ethical, Economic)

We’ve been awarded the Equalitas Certification for the Cantina di Montecchio Maggiore winery. The Equalitas standard addresses sustainability achievements using three assessment criteria: social, environmental and economic. Tangible and measurable targets must be reached to gain the certification. We are also striving for certification for the Castelnuovo del Garda and Gambellara sites in 2024.

6

WE OFFSET

We use renewable sources and offset CO2 with credits generated by our own vineyards. In three years, across 90 partners and 700 hectares, our carbon capture projects have prevented 4,719 tonnes of CO2 from re-entering the atmosphere.

7

LCA PROJECT

The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) project, brought to life in collaboration with Leyton, was implemented for the Cantina di Montecchio Maggiore winery. The methodology used makes it possible to compare the environmental performance of different systems by considering the consumption of resources and the emissions that occur during the product life cycle.

8

ORGANIC WINE

Certification according to EU Reg. 2018/848 for the production of organic wine, obtained for the Montecchio, Gambellara, Castelnuovo del Garda, and Malo sites. Certification obtained for Cantine Vitevis on 13/06/2022 (N: CERT/002/007), valid until 12/06/2025.

GOOD WINES THAT ARE GOOD FOR THE EARTH

“Good Wines that are Good for the Earth” is the title of the event organised by Vitevis on October 11, 2022 at the Vicenza Municipal Theatre. This involved a round-table dialogue in which various aspects of sustainability in the market, business management, and communication were discussed.

10

WINE IN MODERATION

We adhere to Wine in Moderation, the leading social responsibility programme in the wine industry.

This movement provides wine professionals with the information and tools to present wine responsibly and encourage consumers to appreciate its qualities and culture in a healthy and positive manner. Vitevis is therefore committed to promoting responsible wine consumption in all its communications and initiatives.

Projects in collaboration with educational institutions.

We actively collaborate with a number of local schools to raise awareness among young people about the importance of the agri-food sector and to encourage interest in this crucial field.

We have set up scholarships for students at the Ita Trentin Lonigo institute as part of an ambitious project, promoted by CondifesaTVB, entitled ‘Innovative agriculture in environmental and land management’.
